40 kW Three-Phase High-Voltage Hybrid (160–800 V, 4 MPPT, WiFi Plug Included)

The SUN-40K-SG01HP3-AU-BM4 is a 40 kW three-phase high-voltage hybrid inverter built for bigger jobs – think large homes, farms, commercial sheds and small industrial sites on 3-phase power. It ties together your solar array, 160–800 V lithium battery and the grid in one unit, with four MPPTs to handle complex arrays and WiFi monitoring included.

BSC Renewables may use this inverter as the heart of a full solar-plus-battery system, including smart metering and monitoring, configured for Australian conditions.

When this inverter makes sense

This model is worth a look if you’re dealing with:

  • A large 3-phase home or rural property with serious loads – ducted air-con, bore or irrigation pumps, multiple EV chargers, big fridges/freezers, sheds

  • A commercial shed, warehouse, workshop, small factory, cold room or agribusiness site where daytime consumption is high

  • A project where you’re planning a meaningful battery bank, not just a token amount of storage

  • A long-term plan to treat your solar-plus-battery system as critical site infrastructure, not just a bill-reducer

Key Benefits of Deye 40 kW three-phase hybrid inverter

1.Designed for efficiency

Across the AU BM3/BM4 high-voltage series, Deye specifies a 160–800 V lithium-ion battery range with two independent battery inputs and 100 A max charge/discharge (50 + 50 A).

What that means in practice:

  • Higher round-trip efficiency than an equivalent big 48 V bank – less power lost as heat in cables and electronics

  • Lower current on the battery side, which usually means leaner cabling and a tidier switchboard/battery room

  • Well suited to modern stackable HV battery systems that are designed to sit in this voltage window

If you’re planning serious storage and want it to work hard for years, the HV architecture is a big tick.

2.Built for complex, multi-roof arrays

One of the standout features of the SUN-40K-SG01HP3-AU-BM4 compared with smaller models is four independent MPPT trackers, each with two strings.

That gives BSC Renewables a lot of design flexibility:

  • Put one tracker on your main north roof, another on east/west, another on a shed, and one on a ground mount

  • Park shadier or awkward sections on their own MPPT so they don’t drag down the rest of the system

  • Use the available 70 kW PV access capacity to oversize the array sensibly (within design rules), keeping the 40 kW inverter well fed in winter and cloudy conditions

For bigger or more spread-out sites, those extra trackers make a real difference to overall yield.

3. Handles real-world three-phase loads

On paper, three-phase loads are perfectly balanced. In the field, they’re not – one phase almost always ends up doing more work.

Deye’s AU page notes 100% unbalanced output for this series, with each phase able to supply up to 50% of rated power.

What that means for your site:

  • The “busy” phase (often the one with the EV chargers or big compressors) can draw hard without tripping things up

  • You don’t need every circuit to be perfectly balanced across all three phases, which is useful as loads get added over time

  • It’s more forgiving and more practical for mixed residential/commercial boards than a strictly balanced design

4. Designed to scale – on-grid or off-grid

Deye SUN 40K:

  • Can run up to 10 units in parallel, for both on-grid and off-grid systems

  • Supports AC-coupling to retrofit some existing solar systems

  • Can be configured to store energy from a diesel generator in suitable designs

  • Offers six time periods for battery charging/discharging so you can match behaviour to your tariff and usage

So you can:

  • Start with one 40 kW hybrid and add more units later if the site grows

  • Line the system up with time-of-use tariffs charge from solar and off-peak, discharge during peak rates

  • Keep a battery reserve for blackouts instead of draining it flat every night

5. Built and approved for Australian conditions

This inverter model comes with:

  • IP65 enclosure suitable for outdoor wall mounting

  • –40 to +60 °C operating range (with derating above 45 °C)

  • 0–100% humidity, altitude up to 2,000 m

  • Noise level up to 65 dB

  • AS/NZS 4777.2 grid standard, with a 10-year warranty for the AU models

For you, that means the hardware is:

  • Designed and tested with Aussie grid rules and climate in mind

  • Suitable as a long-term backbone for your solar and battery system when installed by a licensed solar electrician

6. Monitoring, comms and the WiFi plug

The Deye lists WiFi, RS485 and CAN as communications interfaces:

In practical terms, this means:

  • BSC Renewables will set up the WiFi plug and cloud monitoring when they commission the system

  • You can log in from your phone or computer to see:

    • Live solar generation

    • Battery state of charge

    • How much you’re buying from and exporting to the grid

  • Remote data (where available) makes ongoing support, fault-finding and fine-tuning much easier over the life of the system
